Immigration Services Help

Our Immigration Services Clinic will be offering support by answering immigration-related questions, reviewing documents, and helping you understand your options and next steps.

If you choose to retain an immigration consultant, you may do so independently and at your own cost. The clinic does not require you to retain a consultant and is designed to provide guidance and information to help you move forward with confidence.

(a) The Calgary Single Mothers Society Immigration Services Clinic providesgeneral information, guidance, document review, and referrals only. Servicesoffered through this clinic do not constitute legal advice and are not provided bya lawyer regulated by the Law Society, unless specifically stated otherwise.

(b) Communications between participants and CSMS staff or volunteers are not protected by solicitor-client privilege, and information or documents shared maybe required to be disclosed to third parties where necessary.

(c) Participants are not required to retain an immigration consultant or lawyer through this clinic. If a participant chooses to retain an immigration consultant or lawyer, this will be done independently and at the participant’s own cost, and any professional relationship formed will be solely between the participant and the consultant or lawyer.

(d) The Calgary Single Mothers Society does not carry professional liabilityinsurance for services delivered by non-lawyer staff or volunteers. Lawyers orregulated professionals, if engaged separately, carry their own mandatoryprofessional liability insurance.

(e) There is no statutory complaint process applicable to the services provided bythe Calgary Single Mothers Society through this clinic.

(f) The Law Society has not evaluated or approved the competence, character, or fitness of the Calgary Single Mothers Society or its staff to provide these services.

(g) Participation in this clinic does not guarantee the completion or outcome ofany immigration matter. All decisions regarding immigration applications aremade solely by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or otherrelevant authorities.
