Free Legal Consultation:
We offer a free, one-on-one legal consultation with a lawyer for up to 30 minutes.

Eligibility for Services:
You do not need to be a single mother to access our services. Our programs are opento all communities and are designed to improve access to justice for everyone.

Privacy & Confidentiality:
All consultations are confidential. You may share as much or as little personalinformation as you feel comfortable disclosing. Your privacy will always be respected.

Will the Lawyer Take My Case?
The initial consultation is an opportunity to discuss your situation and explore your legal options. If you wish to retain the lawyer, you can discuss availability and next steps directly with them.

Am I Required to Retain This Lawyer?
No. You are under no obligation to retain the lawyer you consult with. You are free to seek advice from other lawyers and retain any lawyer of your choice.

Who Will Be My Lawyer—CSMS or the Lawyer I Retain?
Any legal representation will be between you and the lawyer directly. CSMS facilitates access to consultations only and is not a party to the legal relationship.

Legal Aid Support:
Yes, we can assist you with the Legal Aid application process. Please note that eligibility and approval decisions are made by Legal Aid Alberta.

Interpretation Services:
Interpretation services are available at no cost if requested in advance. Please inform us when booking your appointment.

Support for Communication Disabilities:
We will make every effort to arrange volunteer support if needed. You are also welcome to bring your own support person.

Document Translation:
We can assist with translating and verifying documents for your case for a fee.

Notary Services:
Lawyers we collaborate with can provide notary services for a fee. This fee is paid directly to the lawyer, not to CSMS.

Help With Non-Legal Forms:
We may be able to assist with completing forms that do not require a lawyer, depending on volunteer availability.
